What are Tons?

A ton is a unit of weight or mass used in the metric and imperial systems. There are two common types of tons:

• Short Ton (US Ton):
Equal to 2,000 pounds (approximately 907.185 kilograms).
Often used in the United States for measuring weight, especially in commercial and industrial applications.

• Long Ton (UK Ton):
Equal to 2,240 pounds (approximately 1,016.047 kilograms).
Historically used in the United Kingdom for trade and commerce, but now it's not as commonly used.

What is KG?

"KG" stands for "kilogram." It is the base unit of mass in International System of Units (SI) and is widely used worldwide for measuring weight. 1 KG = 1,000 grams.

The kilogram is defined as the mass of the International Prototype of the Kilogram (IPK), An platinum-iridium cylinder kept at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) in France. Until May 20, 2019, the kilogram was defined based on this physical prototype. However, a redefinition occurred on that date, tying the kilogram's value to a fundamental constant of nature, known as the Planck constant. This change ensures a more stable and precise definition for the kilogram and maintains its consistency over time.
